Dr. Presthus is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and practices obstetrics and gynecology in Edina, Minnesota. He is a recognized expert in minimally invasive and office based gynecology. Dr. Presthus served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota from 1982 to 2001.
Dr. Presthus is an active investigator for multiple clinical trials and has numerous publications. He has over 25 years experience performing advanced laparoscopies and hysteroscopic procedures. He has completed over 700 laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomies and over 500 laparoscopic Burch’s; served a guest faculty and/or preceptor at over 250 advanced laparoscopy and laser courses in North America, Europe and Asia, and acted as a consultant and clinical researcher for several medical companies.
Dr. Presthus currently serves on the editorial advisory board for OB/GYN Management Publication, as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. He is currently the Chairman of the coding committee for the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). Dr. Presthus is a member of the American Medical Association, Minnesota Medical Association, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, International Pelvic Pain Society, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and National Vulvodynia Association.
Dr. Presthus earned his Bachelor of Science in Medicine Degree from Baylor College of Medicine where he graduated with honors and completed his residency at the University of Minnesota He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
